Will Queens College of Theology ever become accredited?

Understand the administrations plans and position on accreditation.

Queens College of Theology (QCT) is currently an independent, unaccredited institution authorized by the State of North Carolina to offer degrees in religious education under N.C. Statute 116-15 (d).

However, QCT is not opposed to pursuing accreditation in the future. The college recognizes that accreditation can bring additional recognition and benefits, but it also carries significant financial and administrative costs that have historically been a challenge for small, faith-based institutions.

Why Accreditation Has Been a Challenge

Accreditation is an extensive process that requires:

  • Continuous compliance reviews and audits.

  • Dedicated staff for accreditation management.

  • Substantial annual membership and evaluation fees.

  • Adjustments to institutional policies, facilities, and reporting systems.

For Queens College of Theology, these costs have represented a significant financial barrier—one that could redirect funds away from its mission to provide accessible, affordable theological education.

Rather than raise tuition or accept federal funding, QCT has chosen to remain independent while continuing to build the financial foundation necessary for accreditation in the future.

Commitment to Future Growth

Queens College of Theology’s leadership views accreditation not as an obstacle but as a long-term institutional goal.

The college remains prayerful and intentional about pursuing it when the timing and resources allow, ensuring that:

  • The college’s Christ-centered mission remains uncompromised.

  • The quality of education continues to meet or exceed Christian academic standards.

  • The financial burden on students stays minimal.

This perspective reflects QCT’s commitment to both accountability and stewardship—ensuring that every decision serves students, faculty, and the Kingdom of God responsibly.

Why QCT’s Approach Matters

QCT’s current exemption status under North Carolina law allows it to maintain academic freedom and biblical fidelity while preparing for the possibility of accreditation in the future.
The college’s leadership continues to evaluate partnerships and resources that could make accreditation feasible without compromising affordability or doctrinal integrity.
