Can I defer my start at QCT for one semester?
If you have been offered admission to QCT but have not yet enrolled, you may defer your initial start by one semester. You must pay the applicable required start fees and begin studies in the immediately following semester.
Who can use a deferral?
A deferral is for an admitted student who has not yet enrolled. It is available only at the beginning of the enrollment process.
If you are already enrolled and need a semester off, review the leave-of-absence process instead.
How long can I defer?
You may postpone your start for one semester only. You cannot extend that deferral to a second semester.
Example: If you are offered admission for Fall 2026, you may defer Fall and begin in Spring 2027. You cannot use that deferral to wait until Summer 2027.
Do I still need to pay the start fees?
Yes. You must pay the applicable required start fees even though you are postponing the start of studies. Deferral does not automatically cancel charges or create a right to a refund.
What should I confirm before postponing my start?
Obtain written confirmation from the College of your deferred start term and applicable financial and enrollment requirements. Make sure you understand when you must begin and what you must complete before that term starts.
